Fourth Duck Designs results from the creative artistry and imagination of Jean Doherty. For years, Jean designed images for scenic projections used in television productions, live events, and theater. Now she brings her experience with imagery and lighting into furniture design. Natural patterns and images from the hills of San Diego along with her worldwide travel experiences provide the inspiration for Jean's designs. From her design studio and workshop, she creates custom furniture that incorporates her imagery into a completely different style for furniture.
Jean has been building and working with wood since age five when she received her first tool set. After college she turned to theater and ultimately brought her technical and artistic skills to large-format projections. Her design work was sought out by art directors for the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, and other productions for television. She designed images for projection on stages from Saudi Arabia to Barcelona. Her work was seen on buildings as large as Canada's Parliament and in concerts as diverse as Gloria Estefan, Chick Corea, and Pearl Jam. In all projects, Jean explored how images affect our emotions and create environments that elevate us out of the ordinary.
Fourth Duck is a reference to being one of five Doherty sisters. Her family, along with a creative staff, has brought fruition to Fourth Duck Designs.
